Class of 2006 10 Year Reunion
On Saturday 5 November, the Darwin High School graduating Class of 2006, held a 10 year reunion at the Darwin Sailing Club.
The event was organised by Darwin High Alumni Steph Carter and Josh Lee and was attended by about 70 former students and teachers Jan Sparrow, Lois Doherty and Judy Boland
Guests came from Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide and Kununurra as well as Darwin. Such was the calibre of the event, that many of the interstate guests travelled to Darwin just for the reunion.
The 2006 graduates have found their way into a wide variety of occupations from doctors, lawyers, policy advisors to State, Territory and Federal Governments, social workers, psychologists, data scientists and many other highly valued members of the community.
The Class of 2006 which, was the last of the comprehensive system before Darwin High School became a Senior Secondary Campus, remembered their classmates who had passed before their time: Thea Stanton, Victor Jong and Matty Lawson.
The group reminisced about ‘sleep-overs’ and how spooky B block was at night; ballroom dancing lessons with Mr and Mrs Naidoo and single gender classes.
They were especially appreciative of the fact that Ms Sparrow had travelled all the way from Brisbane where she now teaches, to attend the reunion event, and plans are already under way for another reunion in 2026.
