Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Congratulations to Darwin High School Year 12 students Braeden Parnell, Aidan Fong, Year 11 student Rachel Yun and Year 10 student Laura Chapman.
On Thursday 15 November these incredible students were presented with Duke of Edinburgh Awards at Parliament House.
The Duke Edinburgh’s International Award is an internationally recognised program for young people, building their skills to equip them for life and work. Students who complete the Award learn skills, improve their physical wellbeing and volunteer in their community
Braeden Parnell- Gold award – the only student receiving a Gold Award
Silver award - Aidan Fong, Laura Chapman and Rachel Yun
Bronze Award - Denver Kyriacou
The choice to do the Award is entirely voluntary and students determine the activities they want to take part in. It is a very personal program that offers young people a structure to fulfil their passions and ambitions in a way that suits them.
At Darwin High School students complete the Award independently and are expected to facilitate their own progress through the program. The Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator provides supervision and support for Award activities and assessments.
Anyone wishing to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh program in 2019 can see Mr Ergos for more information.
Congratulations to everyone involved on a fantastic achievement.
