Seniors’ Morning of Entertainment

Seniors’ Morning of Entertainment

On Friday 24 August, Darwin High, with the support of the NT Office of Senior Territorians, hosted the annual Seniors’ Morning of Entertainment. This was the tenth year that the school had held the event, with many of the guests saying it was the highlight of the Seniors’ Month Calendar.

The program for the morning was packed with student performances including: The Darwin High School Concert Band, School Choir and Music students; and dance students. Year 11 students Alanah Hardy, Sam Roussos and Alex Kurien shared the MC role, while SIEU students created a welcoming environment for the Seniors, escorting them during the event.

The event was attended by over 120 members of the community who also enjoyed a morning tea prepared and served by the Integrated Learning Catering Class. The students chose recipes in line with Nutrition Australia guidelines for maximum nutrition in small portions and followed a defined catering budget.

The morning also showcased an exhibition by Year 10-12 Art Practical, Photography and Design students. Guests were impressed with a wide variety of works including painting, reduction lino cuts, watercolours and acrylic, macro photography, fashion and product design.

The feedback from the Senior's event has been overwhelmingly positive with students and staff being commended for the quality of performances, the delicious food and for the welcoming atmosphere. This success is a credit to everyone involved and I thank you for your efforts.

Thank you to everyone who supported and attended the event.
