Students star in BEAT- Ignite
The Department of Education’s annual performing arts showcase, the 2018 BEAT Festival Ignite opened on Wednesday 19 September at the Darwin Entertainment Centre. The production includes a three hundred voice choir, a thirty-piece orchestra, dance groups, bands, soloists and musical ensembles.
Darwin High School students featured throughout the performances. Year 10 students Rhein Paleso’o and Max Hollis and Year 11 student Phoebe Wear shone as performance hosts. Phoebe was asked by event organisers, the NT Music School, to write an original song for this year’s showcase, to the theme Ignite.

I wanted to write a song that had a really deep meaning behind it. It’s about coming together and loving each other instead of fighting.
Many of the School’s dance, drama and music students took to the stage, entertaining the audience with their creativity and incredible talents.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making the event such a huge success!
