Students take on Big Science Competition
On Thursday 10 May twenty-eight Darwin High School Year 10 students participated in the 2018 Australian Big Science Competition.
The Big Science Competition is open to all students in Years 7 to 10 and the participants are able track their performance against state or national averages.
The competition was a fifty minute multiple choice test which assesses students on skills in key scientific areas including observing and measuring, interpreting data, applying data, investigating and problem solving. In addition, questions draw on real-life examples and contemporary issues to test skills in critical thinking. Content covers Earth Sciences and Astronomy, Physics, Biology and Chemistry, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
