What’s Cooking at Darwin High

By teacher Ali Stringer
The Darwin High School kitchens are bubbling with students creating amazing meals each week in the Home Ec area. Year 10 Stylish Food classes have been baking rainbow cupcakes, grilling meats and making spinach triangles.
The Year 10 Food for Life students are getting their nutrition on and learning about the Australia Healthy Eating Guidelines and cooking up some healthy dishes like Tandoori Chicken salad, pesto damper scrolls and Apple Bran Muffins.
Year 11 Food and Hospitality students have been studying bush foods and using local picked ingredients like Rosella flowers to jazz up their cheesecakes. The #Cooking classes in Year 11 are becoming ‘insta-famous’ with their amazing food and photographs on the Darwin High School Instagram page! Check out the page to see what’s happening each week in our kitchens @DarwinHighSchool.
The Year 12’s in Food & Hospitality and Catering are working hard on their final assessments as it’s not long to go now!
