About the ski and snowboard trip
The alpine excursion has a focus on personal and social development through new experiences and challenges. Students develop resilience and learn how to take care of themselves in the alpine environment. Through learning to ski or snowboard, students develop coordination, persistence, resilience and new skills.
Students are expected to demonstrate and develop independence, maturity, teamwork and leadership throughout the trip. As the trip progresses, and students demonstrate safe and mature behaviour on the slopes, they are given more responsibility and independence. It is common that by the end of the trip students have the skills and confidence to independently ski or snowboard in small groups on appropriate runs.
The alpine excursion is also a great opportunity for students to develop new friendships within and across year levels. Students live, ski and snowboard with people outside their normal friendship group. These exciting shared experiences encourage new friendships to form.
