World Challenge

Every two years Darwin High School offers Year 10 students the opportunity to embark on challenging school trips to one of 40 destinations around the world in Africa, Asia, South East Asia, South America and Central America. This program is managed by World Challenge, a pioneering educational organisation with 28 years of experience in delivering personal development expeditions for students.

Your next steps

I have personally led six trips with World Challenge to Namibia and Botswana, Borneo, Vietnam and Cambodia over the past eight years and they have been incredible learning experiences for the students involved. The highlight for me is seeing the students truly take charge of their own expedition and develop so many key life skills like leadership, confidence, conflict resolution, resilience, teamwork and budgeting skills. Upon returning the students have grown in maturity and independence and have a greater appreciation of the challenges faced by those living in developing countries and the opportunities that they have in their own lives. World Challenge 2017

Darwin High is delighted to announce that we are launching a very exciting program for our Year 10 students which offers them the opportunity to plan, fund and ultimately lead their own four week expedition to Namibia and Botswana in November 2017 with World Challenge.

The expedition to Namibia and Botswana will be preceded by a training and preparation program, during which students play a major role in planning their itinerary. The itinerary will include project work in a local community and a challenging trek. Students are also supported in setting and achieving individual and team fundraising goals to help cover the cost of the expedition program, where on average, students raise over half of the total program cost.
