Darwin High School helped to guide me so that I could make my hobbies and my passion for film my future.

Aspiring Filmmaker

BUFTA is a short film competition for aspiring filmmakers from Year 11 and 12 secondary schools across Australia and Darwin High School student Tully Hemsley was the only finalist from the Northern Territory and the winner of the 2016 BUFTA Directing Award.

Tully's BUFTA award winning film 'Pressure' also won the Capricornia Youth Section at the 2016 Darwin International Film Festival.

The most challenging part of year 12 was juggling my school work with my hobbies and social life but it was also the most rewarding.

Tully achieved an A+ Merit for Visual Art - Arts, meaning he was in the top two percent of his cohort and represents exceptional achievement in the subject. He also received an Academic Award in Stage 2 Visual Arts - Video.

Tully was also recognised at the 2016 Exit Art Awards, his video Limbo earning him a Merit Award in Visual Arts.
