- Further study This course prepares students for studying Metalwork in Stage 1. The skills developed may be of assistance if students are applying for metal fabrication or building apprenticeships.
In this course students will have the opportunity to develop a complex range of metalworking skills. This will include the processes of machining, arc, mig, and oxy-acetylene welding, precision operation of equipment and advanced hand techniques.
In this course students will complete practical set test pieces on a regular basis while also designing and executing a major fabricated project.
All students will become familiar with portable power tools; their safe and competent use. Projects will include the fabrication of a tool box and the machining of a number of small hand tools such as hammers and punches.
