About the course

This foundational course provides students with the opportunity to extend their mathematical skills and apply practical problem solving in everyday workplace contexts. The course takes elements from Year 7 to Year 10 V-9 Australian Curriculum. The course places a strong emphasis on expanding and applying mathematical skills in flexible and resourceful ways.  In this course the topics are:

  • Financial Mathematics
  • Statistics

This subject leads into Stage 1 Essential Mathematics Numeracy, which is a one-semester course.

Assessment for this subject is school-based as follows:

  • Financial Mathematics Test
  • Financial Mathematics Investigation
  • Statistics Test
  • Statistics Investigation
