BYOD


Darwin High School's Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program gives freedom to students and their families to tailor their choice of technology to their own educational needs.

Bringing technology into the classroom

At Darwin High students are encouraged to bring a suitable portable device (laptop or tablet) to school.

The BYOD program is optional, and the school maintains a level of service to allow students to access technology throughout the day. However, students who have participated in the BYOD program have expressed they felt they had a considerable advantage by having access to their own device both at school and at home.

Our IT Services Helpdesk will assist with network setup and installation of the following software with the BYOD program:

COMPASS EDUCATION

Darwin High School uses Compass as our student portal. Compass is available via the web and an App.

NTSCHOOLS GUEST WI-FI NETWORK

The NTSchools Guest wireless network is available for students to allow devices, such as personal laptops and tablets, to connect to the internet within our school. Self-service instructions are also available within Compass under the school resources and BYOD section.

PRINTING FROM BYOD

Student printing is available on Windows and MacOS devices, self-service is available within Compass. Additional credit and touchless FOBS are available from Student Services.

MICROSOFT OFFICE 365

Office 365 allows students to download and install the Microsoft Office Suite as well as other online services such as Word, Excel, and OneDrive, to enable, sharing, creating, managing documents and files.

ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD

Adobe Creative Cloud gives students access to a collection of 20+ desktop and mobile apps and services for photography, design, web, UX and more.

EFOFEX SCIENCE AND DRAW TOOL

Efofex products are available to assist students with highly efficient means of drawing equations, graphics, and chemical structures for their Mathematics and Science subjects.

Helpdesk

Our IT Helpdesk is available for students and is located on the 2nd Floor of B Block. The Helpdesk is available to students from 8.00am to 8.30am in the morning, during recess and lunchtimes, and after school from 2.20pm to 2.50pm.

Darwin High School is committed to a cyber-safe school community and all students must sign and adhere to an Acceptable Use and Cyber Safety Agreement included in the Enrolment Pack.

The Compass App

Students and their families are encouraged to download the Darwin High School Compass app to their smart phone/tablet device. Compass app allows you to stay up to date with announcements and events, complete a range of e-forms for student absences and excursions and easily contact us via phone or email direct from the app.
