School transport

Darwin High is well served by the Darwin School Bus Service with buses available to/from Darwin City and surrounding suburbs, the Northern Suburbs, and Palmerston.

Driving to school

Students are permitted to drive vehicles to and from school provided they adhere to the Student Use of Motor Vehicles guidelines which are designed to fulfil safety and duty of care obligations. There is student parking available on campus.

Driving to excursions

In accordance with the Department of Education policy around student driving, students are not permitted to drive to or from excursions during the school day. All students are expected to catch the bus with their teacher.

Where students are attending excursions outside of school hours e.g. performances in the evening, students can make their own way to and from the event and parents will give approval accordingly. Also, parents can give permission for students to make their own way to and from events where students are out for the entire school day e.g. Sports Gala days.

Cycling

Bike racks are provided on campus for students who ride their bicycles to school. Bicycles should be locked to the racks.

Parking

All students must register their car with the school to park on school grounds. Only Year 12 students are permitted to leave school grounds when they have a study line or during breaks.

The Compass App

Students and their families are encouraged to download the Darwin High School Compass app to their smart phone/tablet device. Compass app allows you to stay up to date with announcements and events, complete a range of e-forms for student absences and excursions and easily contact us via phone or email direct from the app.
