Study Centre and Tutors

We operate a Study Centre to provide students with free access to tutoring support. During school hours tutors work in classrooms to support students and teachers. Tutors are also available in the Study Center during the school day to help students who have negotiated time release to access the centre, or who need additional support and time to catch up on work.

Homework Centre

The Homework Centre operates in the Library from Monday to Thursday every afternoon until 4.30pm. There are two Study Centre tutors available to assist students during this time. The Homework Centre also provides subject specific support (for example in Maths and Intensive English) the availability of these services are advertised to students through the newsletter and Compass.

Students need to travel on the public bus service to return home after staying back at the Homework Centre.

Tutorials

Most Stage 2 subjects also offer tutorials (both during the day and after school). These are not compulsory but they are highly recommended for students committed to doing well in their final year. Tutorials are advertised to the school community by relevant subject area teachers and Year Coordinators.

The Compass App

Students and their families are encouraged to download the Darwin High School Compass app to their smart phone/tablet device. Compass app allows you to stay up to date with announcements and events, complete a range of e-forms for student absences and excursions and easily contact us via phone or email direct from the app.
