About

Established in 1956, Darwin High School is a coeducational senior secondary school catering for students in Years 10 to 12. We have been located at the picturesque Bullocky Point site since 1963. Our campus overlooks Darwin Harbour and the Botanic Gardens and is a unique blend of old and new with our historic buildings complemented by state of the art facilities and newer additions.

Reputation for excellence

Darwin High School has a reputation for excellence and in 2015 became an NT Government Independent Public School. As an Independent Public School we have greater local decision making, are governed by a school board and are able to offer innovative programs that provide pathways for all students.

Beyond the classroom

Our vision of education extends far beyond the classroom. We encourage our students to involve themselves in a broad co-curricular program. Learning here takes place in many shapes and forms. Students have the opportunity to participate fully on the sporting field, on the stage, in leadership activities, Vocational Education and Training courses and on the Debating platform.

Our learning environment

Our school is large enough to provide a broad and differentiated curriculum that provides opportunities across many diverse areas of academia, sport, culture, international experience and community responsibility including:

  • a Centre for Excellence in Science and Mathematics
  • a vibrant and renowned Arts program, including Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts
  • an extensive selection of English and Humanities courses
  • Languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Indonesian and Modern Greek and an Intensive English Unit
  • engaging Business, Technology and Enterprise courses
  • state of the art commercial kitchens and a cafe, and
  • exciting and adventurous Physical Education and Outdoor Education programs.

This environment, coupled with high performance expectations and personalised attention, have led to our record of success in the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET).
