About the Centre for Skills and Training

The Centre for Skills and Training supports students in Years 10 to 12 who want to fast track a career in trade and skill based employment.

Students complete their NTCET (Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training) using Vocational Education and Training (VET) in schools, a school based apprenticeship or traineeship, or a combination of both.

How the program works

The Centre for Skills and Training supports students to complete compulsory school based subjects while working or attending VET courses, with a flexible timetable that allows for multiple days at work or VET.

Students in the program do not participate in school based electives, because they are engaged in VET or work. Instead they focus on:

• Stage 1 Essential Mathematics
• Stage 1 Essential English
• Exploring Identities and Futures
• Workplace Practices

How do I apply?

There are two parts to applying, and both are needed.

1. Apply for a VET course, or a School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship (SBAT), through your current school.
2. Register an Expression of Interest for the Centre for Skills and Training through CompassTix before Friday 4 September 2026.
