Digital Communication Solutions: Architectural Design

This subject aims to provide students with an understanding of design and drafting using Computer Aided Design (CAD), and its effects on Individuals and Society including Industry.

About the subject

The course includes a wide range of application of the “AutoCAD”, CAD system to include civil engineering, park design, town planning, architecture and other civil and public space applications.

This subject is highly computer systems based, but will also include hands on model making and presentation skills. The subject provides a unique opportunity for the DPI’s (Department of Planning and Infrastructure) adopt a school scheme. Some excursions may be required to visit building sites. Students will study:

  • CAD Information Systems
  • Design process • Communications
  • Social Issues
  • Cad modelling, rendering

Assessment

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students provide evidence of learning through three to four assessments, with at least one assessment from Assessment Type 1, and one assessment from each of Assessment Types 2 and 3.

  • Assessment Type 2: Folio
  • Assessment Type 3: Product
