Business Innovation Part 1


In Stage 1 Business Innovation, students begin to develop knowledge, skills, and understandings in creating a new business to solve a problem exists in the local community. 

About the subject

Students are immersed in the process of design thinking to solve customer problem or needs by using design thinking. The human centric approach remains at the centre of the innovation process and the generation of business model.

Students work collaboratively to underhand the customers’ emotions and experience, to define a problem, and to ideate a viable solution. In addition, students work individually to develop assumptions and prototype and iterate them in a validation process. Furthermore, students create a business model summary with financial viability analysis. Finally, student work collaboratively to apply their knowledge, skills, and experience to solve a local community problem and pitch their business idea. 

Stage 1 Business Innovation Part 1 consists of the following 4 topics:

  • Business Innovation
  • Product Validation and Hypothesis Testing
  • Business Model Summary
  • Business Pitch and Evaluation 

Assessment

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Business Skills
  • Business Pitch

At least one or more assessment task is created collaboratively.

Further Study

This course prepares students for studying Stage 1 Business Innovation Part 2 and Stage 2 Business Innovation.
