The continuers level languages are designed for students who have studied the language for 400 to 500 hours by the time they have completed Stage 2, or who have an equivalent level of knowledge.
The Stage 2 Chinese Continuers course is the continuation of the Stage 1 Chinese Continuers course. In this subject students interact with others to share information, ideas, opinions and experiences. They create texts in the language to express information, feelings, ideas and opinions. They analyse texts to interpret meaning, and examine relationships between language, culture and identity, and reflect on the ways in which culture influences communication.
Stage 2 Chinese at continuers level consists of three themes and a number of prescribed topics and suggested subtopics. Themes:

Assessment Type 3: Examination (30%). The examination consists of two assessments:

The oral examination will take 10–15 minutes and consists of two sections:

The examinations will be graded by external assessors with reference to performance standards.
