Integrated Learning Sport and Recreation is an alternative pathway to Stage 1 Physical Education where students examine issues such as fair play, participation and drugs in sport as a means of interpreting sport in society.

About the subject

This program develops students’ practical skills and theoretical understanding through participation in recreational activities and inquiry-based learning. Students explore ethical behaviour, inclusion and access to sport while engaging in coaching or leadership roles within community contexts. Practical topics include sailing, chess and ice skating.

Assessment

Assessment at Stage 1 is school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types: 

  • Practical Inquiry – 30%
  • Coaching Connections – 20%
  • Personal Venture – 50%
