This a Stage 2 subject open to Year 11 students. This 10-credit subject develops students’ skills on a chosen instrument or their voice and the application of these skills and other musical knowledge in an ensemble.
Ensemble Performance is an excellent course to capture the skill development of students involved in collaborative music making in either an existing organised ensemble or an ensemble to be formed. Students participating in the School Band or School Choir are excellent candidates for this subject. Performances are conducted through a series of lunchtime concerts, evening performances and whole school events.
Students attend timetabled classes, which is customarily used for personal practice or rehearsal. In addition to this, students participate in a 2 hour performance class each Thursday 3pm - 5pm.
Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:
School Based Assessment | Weighting |
Performance | 30% |
Performance & Discussion | 40% |
External Assessment | |
Performance & Evaluation | 30% |
This is a public performance or set of public performances of contrasting works between 6 - 8 minutes in duration. The Performance Portfolio is to include a 500 word or 3 minute evaluation.
