This is a Stage 2 subject open to Year 11 students.
Music Experience is a creative music course that places an emphasis on the practical application of musical knowledge. This occurs through the student’s preferred method of creating music - performance, composition or music technology.
In tandem with this creative work, students learn how to construct and deconstruct music, whilst developing their musical literacy.
This course can be individually designed to capture the skills or interests of the student.
Students demonstrate their learning through the following assessment types:
School Based Assessment | Weighting |
Musical Literacy (3 tasks) | 30% |
Explorations | 40% |
External Assessment | |
Creative Connections | 30% |
This is a two-part task:
Part 1: A public performance or set of public performances of contrasting works between 6 - 8 minutes in duration, OR a major compositional work of 3 - 4 minutes duration. The focus of this task must be connected to themes explored in the School Assessment tasks.
Part 2: Discussion of 7 minutes duration outlining artistic intentions, reflections, and critiquing outcomes.
