About the Subject

Stage 2 Visual Art Practical emphasises visual thinking, investigation and the ability to develop ideas and concepts, refine technical skills, and produce imaginative solutions. Students work with a wide range of mediums, including drawing, painting, printmaking, screen printing, mixed media and sculpture throughout the course to develop their practical skills. Through investigating established artists, students learnt to develop.Students learn to develop personally relevant ideas, and understand the role that art plays culturally, socially and historically.

Stage 2 VA Practical students work collaboratively in a dynamic and welcoming environment, Students connect to international, national and locally established arts industry professionals and institutions through excursions and artist led workshops. Students use high-quality art materials and facilities in the creation of their artworks, developing skills in innovative thinking, visual communication, critical thinking and problem solving.

In Stage 2 Art Practical, students explore traditional and contemporary art, acquire technical skills, and use media, materials and technologies within the Visual Arts.The support materials folio developed in this course may be used for University Entrance Applications in Visual and Creative Arts courses.
