Commerce aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and understanding of financial matters to navigate the challenging financial choices of today’s world.

About the subject

Through studying this subject, students are expected to be well equipped when making financial decisions now and in the future.

This subject focuses on two main areas. The first half of the course focuses on the Personal Financial Intelligence whereby students develop their financial literacy skills on savings, budgeting, investigating and develop the understanding of taxation and superannuation. The second half of the course focuses in applying financial literacy in running a business and writing a reflection report as how the business went.

  • Business Plan
  • Running Business (Practical)
  • Buying A Second Hand Car 

Course Content

Assessment

Assessments for year 10 Commerce are school based. Students demonstrate evidence of their learning through the following assessment types:

  • Folio
  • Practical
  • Issue Study

At least one or more assessment task is created collaboratively.

Further Study

This course prepares students for studying Business Today, Stage 1 Business Innovation, and Stage 1 Accounting.
