This course will allow students to participate in a range of individual and team sports and develop knowledge and understanding of basic anatomy and physiology and skill acquisition.

About the subject

For each practical activity undertaken basic rules, skills, tactics and individual responsibilities will be covered in game situations. Theory components will focus on developing the necessary background to progress to Stage One Physical Education Studies.

Semester structure

Semester one

Students will complete practical activities based on student/class interest and will complete the following theory topics:

  • Basic Anatomy and Physiology
  • Training and Fitness
  • Issues in Sport.

Semester two

Students will complete practical activities based on student/class interest and will complete the following theory topics:

  • Skill acquisition
  • Biomechanics
  • Issues in Sport

Requirements

Students must bring a change of clothes for each practical lesson, as well as appropriate footwear.
