2016 Darwin Senior Schools Swimming Carnival

Darwin High School have won the Darwin Senior Schools' Swimming Trophy for a second consecutive year. Darwin High students, Sam Murray, Joshua Burroughs, Sam Bricknell, Lauren McSkimming, Amy Messenger, Nanako Hayashi and Kith Mirhan (pictured above) swam up a storm in a close battle with rivals, Essington School.
Both the Boys' and Girls' relay teams were victorious, cementing the Darwin High team in their winning spot on the podium for 2016.
There were also great individual place-getters. Lauren McSkimming placed first in both Backstroke and Butterfly in her age group of 16+ years. Nanako Hayashi, who is here on exchange from Japan, placed first in Breaststroke, with Lauren McSkimming and Amy Messenger placing second and third respectively. The Darwin High girls won the top three places in their 16+ age group.
Sam Murray competed in the 15+ age group and finished first in Breaststroke and second in Backstroke. Joshua Burroughs swam up an age group with the 17+ group and placed second in Backstroke and third in Freestyle. Sam Bricknell came second in both his Butterfly and Breaststroke. Kith Mirhan swam the race of his life in Breaststroke and finished third only a few seconds behind second place, Sam Bricknell.
Congratulations to all the students on the Darwin High Team on a hard fought competition and a well earned win.
The competition trophy will be presented to the Principal, Trevor Read, at the Darwin High School Presentation Night on Monday 12th December.
