5 for Kids

Darwin High School Year 12 student, Ellie Clarke, chose to support local children’s hospital wards in a fundraiser for Give Me 5 for Kids this term.
Give Me 5 for Kids is Southern Cross Austereo’s national fundraiser which has been supporting and raising funds for the last 25 years. Ellie chose to support their annual charity drive which nationally has benefited over 40 children’s hospital wards.

This month I joined with Give Me 5 for Kids to hold a charity fundraiser at Darwin High School. I organised for local businesses to make donations of prizes and ran a raffle for students and staff. I had donations from Harvey Norman, Crocosaurus Cove, event cinemas and Kingpin, to have a number of great prizes to be won from the raffle. Going around the school selling tickets was a really good feeling knowing that the money raised is going to people in need. Kym Menzies, Manager of Southern Cross, came to our school assembly on Monday to collect the $314.00 I raised. I was extremely excited and amazed to tell Kym how much I raised and it felt really good to help sick children.
