A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream

Last week our Stage 1 Drama students performed William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night's Dream. The production was performed over two nights in the Tank to rave reviews.

By teacher Mark Bunnett

Stage 1 Drama has continued the tradition of performing in a Shakespeare play with the recent production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. This popular tale of love, confusion and fun came to life on the dance/drama space last week. The students successfully navigated a simple set which depicted the royal court, the forest and the home of Peter Quince.

During production week we were also very fortunate to have Huw McKinnon from the Bell Shakespeare Company in residency at Darwin High and the students appreciated his feedback following the matinee performance. Shakespeare is a challenge for anyone but it was great to hear many in the audience comment on how well the students understood and conveyed the story. BRAVO!
