Centre 4 Excellence Chemistry Excursion

Centre 4 Excellence Chemistry Excursion

Darwin High School Year 11 Centre 4 Excellence (C4E) Chemistry students went on an excursion to Charles Darwin University (CDU) last week.

The excursion was to enable the C4E Year 11 students to use specialised equipment in atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and chromatography to separate and analyse mixtures. The mixtures included different types of proteins and milk. They were able to determine the concentration of calcium in milk samples, and analyse the different types of amino acids in proteins.
