Cooking for a Cause

Cooking for a Cause

Darwin High School students have been involved in child sponsorship through World Vision for many years. In Semester 1, two Year 10 Stylish Food classes took the opportunity to use their skills to raise money for one of the school’s sponsor children — Stanily from Malawi. They held two separate events where they provided all the catering, from recipe selection through to food preparation and presentation. The events were a huge success and over $600 was raised. The funds will benefit the whole Nkaya community which Stanily belongs to.

The money raised helps in establishing successful activities in education, sanitation, health, nutrition and economic development. For example, through the Word Vision project in Stanily’s community, Early Child Development centres have been built to help children to start their formal education at a very early age. The program also provides essentials like books so primary school children can establish a reading culture.

Well done to all the students and teachers who were involved in this worthy fundraising effort. The latest update on what has been been possible through Darwin High School's sponsorship is below.
