Darwin High Students donate meals to Foodbank

In the last few weeks of the school term Darwin High School Year 10 Food for Life students undertook an assessed group activity which required them to plan and prepare meals utilizing rescued food for Foodbank.
On Thursday 30 November the students and their teachers Ms Ali Stringer and Ms Sevasti Redwood are cooked two hundred ready to go meals for Foodbank NT. These meals will be distributed to agencies that help people in need. The aim of the unit is for students to develop awareness of the quantity and impact of food waste. Students were encouraged to develop a social conscience around the issue of food waste through involvement in the preparation, production and packaging of meals using food ‘rescued’ from Foodbank NT. It has been a fantastic effort this term, well done to both classes.
Darwin High School would like to thank SBA Office National and Asian United for their donations and continued support to with this project. Congratulations Ms Stringer and Ms Redwood and the Year 10 students on a brilliant effort to support our community.
