This year, the Darwin Senior and Middle Schools Swimming Carnival was held for the first time at Parap Pool. With a controlled water temperature around 27 C, students had the perfect conditions for a swim meet in the middle of a hot, sticky, Darwin build-up.
Three students represented Darwin High School, Year 10 students Sasini Perera and Austin Sojan, and Year 11 student Liam Smid. Our students took to the pool with representatives from Essington Senior School, O’Loughlin College and St John’s College.
Sasini swam 2nd in butterfly and freestyle, 3rd in breaststroke and 2nd in the relay. Liam swam 3rd in butterfly, freestyle and backstroke. Austin, who swam in his very first school swimming carnival, competed strongly in both butterfly and backstroke.
We finished second in the senior school division. Congratulations to our three swimmers.
