Developing Connections with Community

The Secondary Intensive English Unit (SIEU) students are stepping out at Darwin High School.

Hajrah Kamran, Year 12 SRC student, came up with the idea of a fundraiser run by the SIEU students as an opportunity to develop their teamwork and English language skills. Hajrah lead the group through the decision making and task allocation process, guided them in the preparation and setting up and watched them shine as they sold hot chips and drinks, using their English to communicate with other DHS students.

Thank you, Hajrah, for your vision, your time, and your ability to follow through on an idea!

If any students are interested in being part of SIEU student lunch-time activities, or just want to come and help them with their English, please contact Ms Northcote.
