Duke of Edinburgh Awards

Duke of Edinburgh Awards

Congratulations to Darwin High School students Andrew Northcote, Bridget Ciubal, Ellie Price and Mitchell Northcote. Last night these incredible students were presented with Duke of Edinburgh Silver Awards at Parliament House.

On Thursday 16 November four Darwin High School students were recognised at a Duke of Edinburgh function at Parliament House. The function was also attended by Her Honour Vicki O'Halloran, Dr Daryl Manzie and Eva Lawler MLA, Minister for Education.

The Duke Edinburgh’s International Award is an internationally recognised program for young people, building their skills to equip them for life and work. Students who complete the Award learn skills, improve their physical wellbeing and volunteer in their community

The choice to do the Award is entirely voluntary and students determine the activities they want to take part in. It is a very personal program that offers young people a structure to fulfil their passions and ambitions in a way that suits them.

At Darwin High School students complete the Award independently and are expected to facilitate their own progress through the program. The Duke of Edinburgh Coordinator provides supervision and support for Award activities and assessments.

Congratulations to everyone involved on a fantastic achievement.
