Engage with Engineering
The Charles Darwin University School of Engineering and IT, together with Engineers Australia (led by Women in Engineering), recently undertook visits to local Darwin schools to meet with senior secondary students. Students received information about the engineering courses available at CDU and met with one or more practicing engineers. Twelve Darwin-based engineers from a variety of fields and organisations took part in the visits. Each visit also included a current CDU Engineering student who was usually a past student of the school.
Darwin High students in Stage 1 Specialist Mathematics and Stage 2 Physics were visited by the following presenters:
- Joanna Winslade, a past student of Darwin High who is a graduate structural engineer at Wallbridge and Gilbert RFP
- Karti Singh-Freeman who is an undergraduate engineer with Department of Infrastructure
- Themeli Mousellis and Henry Bui, both past students of Darwin High and current CDU Engineering students
- Local 3rd year CDU Engineering student, Jye Thorbjornsen.
The CDU School of Engineering and IT, the CDU Aspire Program and Engineers Australia are hosting a follow-up event on Friday 19 August, 6-7pm at the CDU Waterfront campus where interested students and their families will have the opportunity to meet a panel of engineers and current CDU Engineering students. More information about this event will be distributed in Term 3.
