From School to the Pool

From School to the Pool

The learn-to-swim program is an important part of the orientation curriculum for Darwin High’s SIEU (Secondary Intensive English Unit) students. Many of these students are in their first year of living in Australia and have not yet learned to swim. In schools, only teachers who have trained under AUSTSWIM, Australia's national organisation for the teaching of swimming and water safety, can teach swimming to school students and Darwin High School is a proud partner of this valuable program.

The Darwin Region Senior Schools Swimming Carnival is on in November and provides DHS students with the opportunity to compete against other senior schools in Darwin. This competition is also a stepping stone for swimmers who wish to compete at national level. If students wish to compete, please come to the Careers office and register with  Miss Goodvach.
