Fundraiser for Front Line Health Staff
Late last Term Year 12 student Laurence Delin ran a fundraising campaign for a special project to acknowledge the efforts of front line health staff during the pandemic.
Thanks to the generous donation of Michael Gunner, MLA for Fannie Bay, Laurence was able to raffle off two chocolate hampers and raise $160.
Thank you to Mr Gunner and all the Darwin High School and NT Distance Education staff and students who supported Laurence by purchasing tickets.
Laurence then approached DHS Scholar, JimJam's cakes to support his care project and she generously agreed to donate her time and supplies.
On Tuesday 18 August Laurence and Principal, Jill Hazeldine visited the Centre for Disease Control, Royal Darwin Hospital Unit Pandemic Clinic. These are the staff running the Pandemic Hotline and caring for anyone who comes to the clinic. After a short tour of the facility he presented them with a card and 64 delicious cupcakes.

I chose this for my community project because I wanted to express my appreciated to some of the health staff who are working so hard behind the scenes to keep us all safe. It was really heartwarming to see how grateful the staff were. They certainly deserved the thanks!

This is so thoughtful and has painted huge smiles on everyone’s faces today – people are astounded by the kindness and generosity.
A big thank you to Laurence's Community Studies teacher, the incredible Ms Latham!
