Important Information for Term 3 Return to School

School returns for students on Tuesday 21 July at 8 am and all students are expected to physically attend school. It is important that we accurately capture student attendance so please contact the school by phoning 8999 1222 if for any reason your child is unable to attend.

If your child is unwell they should not attend school.

Year 10, 11 and 12 students are to go straight to their Lesson 1, Tuesday timetabled class. SIEU students are asked to go to the Exam Centre.

Hard copy timetables will only be available from the Front Office for students who are new to Darwin High School or who don’t have access to Compass. Students should email [email protected] their name and Year Level to request a printed copy to be collected from the Front Office.

Term 3 will see some changes to the Department of Educations operating guidelines which will allow us to resume some activities where the hygiene and physical distancing principles can be adhered to.

We are working to reconnect with our school community and wherever possible to hold our usual school calendar events or a modified version. Further details about specific events will be provided via Compass and the newsletter.

We will continue with the additional cleaning measures in place to ensure high standards of health and hygiene. There are some routines students will need to maintain to help with this, including:

  • bringing a water bottle to school each day. The bubblers are only available as water refill stations and students are not allowed to drink directly from them. Last Term the school supplied over 800 water bottles and 2000 disposable cups. These will no longer be provided and students are responsible for bringing their own bottle or cup to school. Alternatively, students can purchase bottled water from the canteen.
  • washing hands as often as possible, particularly before eating and after going to the bathroom.
  • limiting physical contact when greeting people and practicing physical distancing wherever possible.

We will continue to provide you with information about any changes to school operations in Compass and the newsletter.
