Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony

On Thursday 17 August eight Darwin High School Year 11 students from the Stage 1 Indonesian class took part in the 72nd Indonesian Independence Day ceremony at the Indonesian Consulate in Darwin. 

Students were accompanied by Darwin High School Indonesian teacher, Mrs. Christie and the Indonesian exchange teacher from Ambon, Mrs Emma.

During the thirty minute ceremony, students had the opportunity to witness the raising of the Indonesian flag, listen to the Indonesian National Anthem, and follow all ceremony instructions which were given in Indonesian.

In addition to enjoying being immersed Indonesian culture and the language, the students also had a chance to experience some tasty Indonesian cuisine before returning back to school.
