Fundamental Movement

Fundamental Movement

This Term Darwin High School Stage 2 Integrated Learning PE students have been learning how to conduct physical literacy sessions for primary school-age students. As part of their 'Connections' task the students were required to create sessions that develop fundamental movement skills, sport-specific skills, and locomotive skills.

The class observed a lesson conducted by Tim Ellison from International Performance Systems at Stuart Park Primary School and then spent three weeks delivering their own fundamental movement sessions to students in grades transition through to grade four at Wulagi Primary School.

The purpose of this assessment was to develop critical and creative thinking capability and to develop connections with the community. The group is doing this by teaching the building blocks of movement in a way that is fun and engaging for young kids.
