International Women's Day
On Friday 8 March, the Year 12 Women’s Studies class held its annual International Women’s Day morning tea which was attended by parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, politicians and other supporters of the students in the class such as the Darwin High School Board.
The event was opened by a Welcome to Country delivered the schools Aboriginal and Islander Education Worker, Barbara Tapsell and was followed by a supportive and encouraging speech by former DHS Principal, Marion Guppy.
The feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive and gave students and their guests alike much to think about and act upon in regard to equity and equality at school and in the wider community.
Congratulations to Women's Studies teacher Mrs Dupe and all the students for ensuring the event was an overwhelming success.
Many students attended the International Women’s Day NT 2019 march which was held in the city on Saturday 9 March. It was wonderful to see the happiness and community spirit shared by people of all ages on the day.
