Jingili Primary Science Expo
On Tuesday 22 May five Darwin High School Year 10 students attended the Jingili Primary School Science Expo.
Students Hannah Kwon, Jarrod Li-Hunnam, Madelyne Lu, Shaun Thomas and Nuhansi Wijesinghe put together two activities to engage the primary school students. The activities were a butterfly chromatography activity where students drew on round filter paper with water soluble textas and placed the papers in water to see which colours were separated from each colour of texta. The filter papers were then folded into a butterfly. Students also made film canister rockets – some worked so well that they hit the roof!
DHS teacher Katie Gregory said that
The Science Expo provides the students with a great opportunity to showcase their knowledge, leadership skills and love of science.
Our DHS students were regularly praised by Jingili Primary School teachers for their engaging manner with the Primary School students.
