Child Studies at La Crèche

Darwin High School Year 11 Child Studies students have spent the last four weeks visiting the childcare centre La Crèche on The Avenue as part of their studies.
Darwin High School has been partnering with La Crèche for the last four years to provide Senior Secondary students with hands on experiences in the child care sector.
The visits gave students the opportunity to observe how children learn through play and to talk to the carers about their experiences in the childcare sector.
The final visit saw the students plan and implement their own activity with the children they had been observing and then reflect on how it went.
The student-led play activities included: pasta jewellery making, water play with sponges and singalongs with the smaller children and alphabet and number activities with the pre-schoolers. All activities were equally enjoyed by both the children and the DHS students.
Darwin High School sincerely thanks Louise de Bomford-Scott and the fantastic carers who so warmly welcome the students from Darwin High School.
