Life by SLIDE

LIFE created by Joanna Noonan with SLIDE Youth Dance Theatre and guest professional mentors was a phenomenal show featuring many current and graduate DHS Dance students.
So so honored to have watched this piece take shape in new and meaningful ways over the past few weeks as a creative consultant and to then watch it with current DHS dance students on excursion - what a gorgeous and talented cast that have all grown in their artistry inspired by Joanna Noonan and the fabulous mentors around them who deserve to be acknowledged for their generous sharing of their talents and knowledge and their fantastic performances. What wonderful mentors who truly inspire us all - thanks to Nikita Dakers, Arthur Casinillo Lariosa, Lauren Yerkovich, Brandan Hardie, Davey, Rochelle Cabry, Holly Langmaid, Sonja Simonato.
The three main characters Skylar, Abigail and Parker played by Piper Whiting, Addison Burke, Bill Cotter were captivating- they embodied their characters with respect, honesty and conviction. Each so different, each so real, each so powerful in bringing their characters lives to life- together they represented so many young people out there living in our community and they definitely showcased the complexity of their character with integrity and honesty. I know audiences were truly moved and many related to each of them.
LIFE was an absolutely Beautiful work delivered by a highly talented cast - their messages to their audiences will have lasting impacts long after the stage was empty, the bump-out had happened and the lights were turned off. Their dancing truly inspired and wowed all of their audiences - the technical proficiency and stage craft of this cast was insane - it takes a lot of skill to do what they do. I know that the DHS dance students on the excursion witnessed a stage filled with dancers (some also current dhs dancers) whose dedication and passion magnifies the power of dance to communicate with us and we will all celebrate how dance connects us.
Inspired by LIFE I am sure Dance23 and ANOMALOUS will showcase students exploring and sharing their own dance experiences.
