Mini Japan at DHS

Recently our Japanese language students have enjoyed the company of a special guest in class. Like our language students Mr Tsunoda's 3 year old son is learning how to speak Japanese and so provided the classes with a mini Japan experience.

Last week our Stage 2 Japanese Continuers celebrated their completion of the program with the little young guest Japanese teacher. After filling in a feedback/advice form, the students introduced themselves, talked about their family and favourite food, took turns to become a ‘patient’ in a make-believe doctor’s clinic, and played games, all in Japanese.
It provided everyone with the opportunity to try out their language/cultural skills in a real-life setting turned out to be a joyously successful culmination of their learning journey.
Stage 1 Continuers also had a chance to engage in a language learning game where they had to tell the ‘teacher’ what to bring, with harder-to-name objects attracting more points. In the end everyone had a lot of conversation in Japanese with mini sensei.
