Music News

The DHS Music department hosted an on-campus performance this week, with the Year 10 music concert.
Students, staff and families enjoyed a variety of music performances and the many musical talents of our Year 1o students. Congratulations to all the students who were involved.
Some of our talented musicians were also busy at work during Week 7, performing in chamber music events both locally and nationally.
Our Saxophone Trio, Brass Quartet and Piano Trio have been busy preparing for their entries for the National Chamber Music Competition.
And on Sunday, two of the groups represented Darwin High School at the Darwin Symphony Orchestra Chamber Music concert series.

I am writing on behalf of Arafura Music Collective and Darwin Symphony Orchestra to thank you for the Darwin High School participation in the Young Artists Showcase at NT Chamber Music Festival, June 4th and 5th . We would like to congratulate you on the standard and preparation of the young performers from Darwin High.
The young artists from each Ensemble performed with great aplomb and skill and were a great credit to your school. As well as the excellent performances, I particularly enjoyed the student introductions of themselves and their pieces, and the very groovy leader of the brass group. It was very apparent that all the students had been rehearsed with skill, professionalism and with fine attention to musicianship and ensemble.
It was very exciting to see how well and sensitively the young people from Darwin High played in ensemble. This is a wonderful skill which can assist them in many facets of their lives into the future. It is a testament to the quality of the music program at the School. Thank you to you and all contributing staff.
