Music Student makes Top Tunes from Around the Country
Darwin High School music student Stevie Kyriacou has been selected for the triple j Unearthed High finals.
A music competition by triple j, Unearthed searches for Australia's best High School aged singer. Previous winners include Japanese Wallpaper, Asta, Stonefield, and last year's winner, Gretta Ray.
The best entries are played on national radio, and the overall winner, will have the opportunity to record, remix or master a track, get advice from music professionals, and have triple j come to their school!
This year’s competition received more than 1,000 entries with songs coming in from High School acts right across the country over the four weeks of the competition. Last week Stevie’s song Hell in Every Religion became one of five finalists for 2017.
triple j describe Stevie’s song as:
You can hear it immediately with Stevie Jean. That voice. It's unstoppable. The 17 year old marries her immense voice to songwriting that is ignited with raw emotional power. It'll have you in a sweat by the time its four minutes are up, demanding you to experience it again.
Winners are expected to be announced soon. Congratulations and good luck Stevie!
