Musical Notes

It has been a busy and exciting Term for our Music students and staff, with lots of events and performances.

Virtual Choir 5.0

The DHS Virtual Choir is back for 2023 following on from its success over the last few years, one trend that has continued post COVID. The Music students are pleased to present for your enjoyment – Virtual Choir 5.0 “We Won’t Stop Dreaming”. In 2023, our talented Music students again recorded themselves individually to be included in this mass production, with our music staff, Sara Abawi and Alana Bryett coordinating student preparation and recordings. Army Band Visit

On Thursday 19 October, Army Band Darwin visited Darwin High School to present a lunchtime concert for students in the Tank. The students thoroughly enjoyed the performance in the cool of the Tank, and we are grateful to Capt. Ben Bonney (Officer Commanding/Music Director – Band of the 1st Brigade) and Army Band Darwin’s rock unit for their engagement.

Ensembles Concert

During the last mid semester School Holidays, our Music Department presented their annual Ensembles Concert featuring the Concert Band, Jazz Band, Chamber Choir and a special vocal quartet. With a range of music spanning movie favourites, exciting concert band titles, jazz standards, choral works of both humour and uplifting messages.

Lunchtime Concerts

During Week 6 and 7 the Stage 1 Music Advanced students have been holding a series of lunchtime concerts. This week's concert is a special one because it features the Stage 1 Music Choir, which involves a range of students from both Year 10 and 11. Due to the size of the group, today’s concert will be held in the Dance Space at the Tank. The performance of the choir will be followed by piano solos from Nicole Ting and Alyssa Shaw and a trombone & piano duet by Sebastian Taylor and Joshua Jacob.
