National Gallery Scholarship Success for Darwin High Students
A huge congratulations to Year 10 Film student Benjamin Westacott, who has been selected as the 2026 National Gallery Art Scholarship Recipient for the Northern Territory.
The review panel was deeply impressed by the thoughtfulness, creativity and passion evident in Ben’s submission — an outstanding achievement and recognition of his artistic talent and dedication.

As part of the scholarship, Ben will take part in a 12-month online residency, connecting with scholarship participants from across Australia for unique learning experiences. He will also complete a week-long residency at the National Gallery of Australia in Kamberri/Canberra.
Darwin High School is proud to note that we have had a student selected for this prestigious program for the past six years.
Our 2025 NT representatives, Year 11 students Lily Carnal and Moses Saunders, will travel to Canberra in Week 10 to undertake their own week-long residency at the National Gallery.
Congratulations to Ben, Lily and Moses — we are incredibly proud of your achievements and can’t wait to see where your creative pathways lead!
