National Gallery Scholarship Winners

Darwin High School continues to make its mark on the national arts scene, with two of its students, Lily Carnell (pictured above) and Moses Saunders (pictured below), selected for the esteemed 2025 National Summer Art Scholarship (NSAS). This incredible achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that Darwin High students have been chosen for this prestigious program, solidifying the school’s reputation as a hub for emerging artistic talent.
The NSAS, now in its 25th year, offers a transformative year-long experience for budding artists across Australia. The program features online learning and culminates in a week-long residency at the National Gallery of Australia in Kamberri/Canberra. Participants engage with industry experts, explore innovative artistic practices, and forge lasting connections with like-minded peers.
Darwin High’s record of success in the program is remarkable:
- 2024: Eshani Senerath, set to travel to Canberra in December 2024.
- 2023: Hayley Ryan
- 2022: Ginger Albers
Lily, Moses and Eshani are thrilled about the opportunity to represent their school and the Northern Territory on a national stage. Their selection highlights the vibrant arts culture at Darwin High, nurtured by the school’s supportive environment and dedicated teachers.
